These guys built top quality doors and windows with all composite structure which was a huge additional upcharge at the big box stores for a similar price as the basic stuff from Home Depot. Then when you factor in they delivered when they said they would (even during the pandemic) and provided professional quality installation, it really was a no brainer. We will definitely use them again for any future needs.

Do you really build the doors yourselves?

Yes. We custom-manufacture composite entry doors on site, which is unusual in the Brantford area — most companies order a door in from a supplier and fit it. Building it here means the door is made to your opening rather than your opening being adjusted to a stock size, and you choose the style, colour, glass and hardware as part of the build.

What is a composite door, and why not wood?

A composite door is built up from several materials rather than cut from solid timber. The practical difference in this climate is that there is no wood to absorb moisture, so the door does not rot, swell shut in July or shrink and let draughts through in February. Wood looks lovely and needs refinishing to stay that way; composite does not.

Steel, fibreglass or composite — which should I choose?

Steel is the most economical and is hard to damage, though it can dent and the finish is less forgiving. Fibreglass takes a woodgrain finish convincingly and handles temperature swings well. Composite is what we build in-house, which is why we can make it to your exact opening rather than work to a stock size. We bring samples so you can handle all three rather than choose from a brochure.

Will a new front door actually make the hall warmer?

Usually, though the reason is often the frame rather than the door. Most cold halls are down to a failed seal, a door that has dropped on its hinges, or a frame that has moved — which is why we look at the whole opening, not just the slab, when we quote.
